SEE WHAT I’M SAYING, a feature documentary by award-winning filmmaker Hilari Scarl about uniquely talented deaf entertainers, received a history-making DVD launch at Universal Studios Hollywood on Sunday, February 20, 2011. Attendees included the film’s stars – comic CJ Jones, performance artist Robert DeMayo, drummer Bob Hitlermann, and singer/songwriter TL Forsberg. The red carpet event included performances by each of the film’s stars as well as deaf-singer Rosa Lee Timm and award-winning magician Krystyn Lambert. The highlight of the evening was a film competition awards ceremony sponsored by Sprint Relay which saw four emerging independent filmmakers – Bao Ly, Eddie Buck, Melissa Kielbus, and Paul Lucas recognized for their work. Scarl awarded the Greater Los Angeles Agency on Deafness (GLAD) with WE TV and Ladies Home Journal WE Do Good Award that included a $5000 cash prize to the organization of Scarl’s choice.
